Take the InfraRoom Industry Survey and have your say on the Roadmap

A message from the buildingSMART InfraRoom Steering Committee

Roadmap update and invitation to industry feedback survey

The Infrastructure Room has, over the past year or so, been successfully expanding the bSI openBIM standards to encompass much of the infrastructure domain including IFC standards for Roads, Bridges, Ports, Waterways and Tunnels plus liaising closely with Railways. These developments are being incorporated into IFC 4.3 and future IFC releases.

We realize that there is still much to do and other important areas to cover. To that end, we have been developing the InfraRoom Roadmap for future open BIM developments within the domain. The Roadmap is now published which covers our headline intentions over the next few years summarised below.

We cannot hope to cover all outstanding openBIM issues but want to meet the needs of the industry in a rational and programmed fashion. We now need your help and input from industry to understand, prioritise and reinforce our next steps. Hence we are now issuing a discussion Whitepaper looking at current issues and a survey to gather opinion, prioritise and make a start on resourcing the next steps.

We need your help and would ask you to complete our survey and to encourage your organisations, colleagues and those who you know might have the interest to do so.

With the results of the survey we will be able to prioritise and promote our activities and their needs to the infra community. We will create business cases and link those to resources. This will all lead to further making openBIM the default in infrastructure design, construction and operation.

With thanks,

The InfraRoom Steering Committee
