Profile Definitions

Lately I am reading up on Profile Definitions, specifically Parameterized Profiles, but I can’t quite seem to grasp the subject fully. As I understand things now, certain geometric profiles are standard and have thus received a Parameterized Profile Def. I’ve managed to find the following profiles, which I categorized in three groups:

‘Advanced’ shapes:

  • I-shape (both symmetric and asymmetric)
  • C-shape
  • L-shape
  • T-shape
  • U-shape
  • Z-shape

Plain shapes:

  • Circle (both solid and hollow)
  • Ellipse
  • Rectangle (both solid, hollow ánd rounded)
  • Trapezium

Other:

  1. (Arbitrary) Hollow Core profile
  2. Double T profile
  3. Mechanical profiles

When you combined two or more profiles, IfcCompositeProfileDef applies.

My aim is to check and report the parameters in the Parameterized Profile Def. So far, no luck. Does anyone here have any experience on the subject?
