IFC Sample Files on GitHub

Back to the first days I was joined to bSI forum:

Hey Jeff @jwouellette ,

in spite I was not tagged here, just wanna come up with the hint regarding test files or IFC Templates that are currently being used for the certification of IFC4 RV at B-Cert.
See below -> https://www.b-cert.org/Documentation/TestTemplates
In any case a good example would be helpful not only to most software developers but also to users. Agreed with @daviddelven comment as well.

Be safe and sound,
Mirbek

@mirbek.bekboliev can those test files be moved to a repo so that the public can access them instead of only those who have paid for certification?

@Moult and @mirbek.bekboliev Nope. The test templates are for certification only.

@mirbek.bekboliev Are reinforcement object definitions part of your template? I see ugly thing in outcomes here on several different vendors. Or: processing a hour with no output at all! It certainly help the user community if these kind of models or template were a bit more transparant. Now, I can only make use of project files. That is a bit hard for open communication and sharing.

But Maybe i overlooked it but i think BuildingSmart shoud have a open library with their ‘best examples on ifc pratice’ somewehere. @jwouellette

You should address that onto the B-Cert Team under contacts.

As far as I remember there were some test files on previous Technical Page. Files like “Hello Wall” or “Hello Building”…most likely those file have been used for IFC2x3 Certification. On one side it would help to test some open source tools, but on other hand you would need IFC4…

It’s a long time I purpose to have some test files in IFC schema/spec docs and also “validation and best practice purposes” like what CAx, CAE, MBx do in the PLM area

For instance, some companies can pass “Hello Wall” as a simple test, but they fail in the medium and complex and also large projects

For instance, as Hans shared a test video, it takes a day to import a medium-sized IFC file in some software :laughing:

For end Users it would be very helpful to have some test files to see diffrent „best practice“ usecase as Examples. This is a god Idee!
